1. Overview

Hook IQ ("we", "us", "our") operates the Hook IQ mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the App, you agree to the practices described here.

2. Information We Collect

We collect only the information needed to provide and improve the App:

• Account information — your email address and a display name when you register.
• Forecast inputs — the location, target species, and timing you enter to generate forecasts.
• Catch log entries — species, weight, length, location, bait, weather, notes, and any photos you choose to save. These are private to your account.
• Usage and interaction data — anonymized clicks on recommendations used to improve relevance.
• Device identifier — a push-notification token used solely to deliver notifications to your device.
• Approximate location — only when you grant permission, used to prefill forecast locations. You can deny this at any time.

3. How We Use Information

• To generate bite forecasts, lure recommendations, and Strike Scores.
• To store and display your personal catch logbook.
• To send push notifications about bite windows and account activity.
• To process and verify subscriptions through Apple App Store and Google Play.
• To improve forecast quality and recommendation relevance over time.

4. Subscriptions & Payments

Hook IQ Premium is sold as an in-app subscription through Apple App Store and Google Play. Payment processing is handled entirely by Apple and Google — we never see or store your card details. Subscription status is synced to your account so we can unlock Premium features. You can cancel anytime from your Apple ID or Google Play subscription settings.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers that help operate the App — such as cloud hosting, AI model providers, push delivery (Firebase Cloud Messaging), and subscription management (RevenueCat) — under agreements that require them to protect your data and use it only for our purposes.

6. Data Retention & Deletion

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from Profile → Delete Account in the App. Deletion is irreversible and removes your account, catch logs, and saved locations.

7. Data Security

All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and stored on secured cloud infrastructure. Access is restricted to authorized personnel and systems. No method of transmission is perfectly secure, but we apply industry-standard safeguards.

8. Children's Privacy

Hook IQ is intended for general audiences and is rated 4+ / Everyone. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your region, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or to opt out of certain processing. You can exercise most of these directly in the App, or by contacting us.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance.
